Pashinyan and ‘His Brother Aliyev’ Will Not Force Us To Leave Our Homes, Says Aghavno Mayor

AGHAVNO, ARTSAKH REPUBLIC – “We are not going to leave our homes because Nikol Pashinyan is holding faulty negotiations,” expressed Andranik Chavushyan, mayor of the Aghavno community of Kashatagh, and a member of the ARF Artsakh Central Committee, in his conversation with NEWS.am.

To note, Pashinyan stated during his interview yesterday that in the case of a change in routes, the territories that were not part of the Soviet-era Nagorno Karabakh Autnomous Republic will be handed over to Azerbaijan’s control. Specifically, he stated “the government will address the issues of any Lachin residents, who will be provided with apartments. In fact, no families live in Lachin today, and the problems of the residents of the Aghavno village will be solved with the help of the Artsakh government, I can not say anything definite about Sus at this moment. The problem is whether those territories were inside or outside of the NKAO borders. In any case, when we discussed this issue with the Artsakh authorities, the name of Sus village was not discussed.”

According to the mayor of Aghavno, Nikol Pashinyan cannot constantly take the position of a compromiser․

“I do not understand why he is doing that. No one gave him a mandate to hand over lands. Both he and his brother Aliyev are gravely mistaken. I will not leave, and moreover, we will prepare for more serious steps.”

To the question on how the residents of Aghavno are disposed regarding the issue, Chavushyan responded that “the mood of the residents is also aimed at staying. The more persecution there is, the more excited we become. We are not going to leave our homes, go out calmly and without anything just because Nikol Pashinyan is holding faulty negotiations.”

To the question whether Nikol Pashinyan’s statement was a surprise, the mayor said, “No, it was not a surprise. I expected him to make such a statement. When we told people, they reacted with hatred. Thousands of people died so that the land would remain, now we are giving up land to save lives, we do not need such a life.”
