United States is a Predator Preparing an Attack on Turkey, says Former Turkish Minister

On Friday, in a column titled “The US’ spiderweb policy” published in the online version of Daily Sabah, Bulent Akarcali, the former Turkish minister of Health, Culture and Tourism implied that the United States is a predator similar to a “spider” that “is one of the rare creatures that does not hunt its prey directly but catches it instead through a well-established system.”

In the column, Akarcali criticizes the United States government for pursuing policies in the region, which he dubs a “spiderweb policy”, that are not always entirely aligned with Turkey’s ambitions. He claims that the United States, and particularly the United States Senate, act as the “epicenter of Turkish enmity” led on by what he calls a “Terror Lobby” formed by an alliance between Armenians, Greeks, and oddly enough Gulenists.

Daily Sabah, according to Wikipedia, is a Turkish pro-government daily and “has been frequently called a propaganda outlet for the Turkish government and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP)”, owned by a friend of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to the column in the pro-Erdogan newspaper, the United States, by installing large military bases in the Greek Islands, is “making way to prepare for an attack on Turkey through Greece, with which the U.S. signed a defense cooperation agreement.”
