LOS ANGELES, CA – Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited Los Angeles on September 24 and 25, after attending sessions of the United Nation’s General Assembly in New York.
Cavusoglu met with Los Angeles area Turks at the Turkish Consul General’s Residence. During the meeting, Cavusoglu repeated a common narrative the Turkish government has been using recently, which appears to be coordinated with the Pashinyan regime.
“Armenia needs to be encouraged. Unfortunately, maybe they are few in number, but they are a group that has a loud voice in America, the Armenian group is against this normalization, against the normalization with Turkey. They have no contribution to Armenia. They act on hatred and they are against Armenia.
“We need peace in the region and this cooperation. It is a country that has lived in isolation until now, for obvious reasons. This opportunity should also be used well,” stated Cavusoglu.
Cavusoglu clearly sees an “opportunity” that should be “used well” that exists in Armenia, and that this “Armenia should be encouraged” despite the “Armenian group” with a “loud voice in America” that is “against the normalization with Turkey” and is “against Armenia.”
In the last several months, Zareh Sinanyan, Armenia’s Diaspora commissioner has made similar remarks, most notably against the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, claiming that those against Armenia’s government are traitors and are working against Armenia.
