Mr. President:
We are beyond words.
Artsakh Armenians are on the brink of starvation. It has been over 230 days that fascist criminals at the head of Azerbaijan have imposed a military siege on the people of Artsakh. A brutal blockade denying all access by the people of Artsakh to Armenia and the rest of the world, and cutting off all sources of food, medicine and critical humanitarian assistance for 120,000 people including 30,000 children. This is outright death, Mr. President. This is genocide on our watch. This is, indeed, taking part in a cold-blooded mass murder forced upon the US by Azerbaijan and Turkey. And yet your administration continues to drag its feet by insignificant diplomacy and irresponsible procrastination.
I wrote to you on June the 1st warning you that this calamity was about to happen. Since then, Azerbaijan made clear – in no uncertain terms — that it will disregard the rulings of the International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights requiring the immediate removal of this ruthless blockade. At this point, any further delay of decisive action by your administration will deliberately condone forced starvation of innocent people and genocide and will discredit the US as world leader. Nothing short of direct military intervention by the US will do the job. The time of half-measures is long gone.
We, as individual Americans, have only one recourse when the evil of genocide threatens helpless people. You, as our President, are obligated to deliver justice where justice is due. The freedom-loving people of Artsakh are seeking help against a powerful enemy, which is actively buying influence in Washington and manipulating US government policy to the detriment of US national interest. This has got to stop once and for all.
Mr. President, it is time to move! With all due respect, there is no justification for ineffective action on the part of your administration. Large number of lives are at stake. Ordinary people trying to make an honest living in back-breaking conditions, who also have chosen the path of freedom. The US must say a forceful NO to Azerbaijan and Turkey. THE PEOPLE OF ARTSAKH MUST BE SAVED BY URGENT US MILITARY ACTION. WE MUST ACT NOW! They deserve our robust help in support of their own free choice.
