Prelate Welcomed Hamazkayin Western USA Regional Executive

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, welcomed a delegation from the Hamazkayin Western USA Regional Executive. The delegation was led by Mr. Manoug Joukhajian, Chairman of Hamazkayin Western USA Regional Executive. The visit was to formally invite H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian and the Executive Council of the Western Prelacy to Hamazkayin’s annual cultural event which will take place on October 13, 2024. This annual cultural event, which has become a tradition in recent years, aims to raise funds for the purchase of a new center for Hamazkayin within the community.

During the meeting, the delegation informed H.E. Archbishop Khacherian about their plan to acquire Hamazkayin’s inaugural cultural center in the western region and the ongoing efforts to realize this dream. The Hamazkayin members expressed optimism that our community, which highly values our culture, would unite and support Hamazkayin in its efforts to realize the longstanding vision of purchasing its own cultural center. This new center will enable Hamazkayin to carry out its cultural and educational programs and projects in the western region more persistently and effectively.

H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian stressed the importance of Hamazkayin’s ongoing mission worldwide, particularly within the Armenian community in Los Angeles. The Prelate expressed his concern that despite its long history of more than half a century of service in the western region, Hamazkayin has yet to establish its own permanent home in the community. H.E. Archbishop Khacherian urged the Hamazkayin delegation to unite their efforts and work collectively and collaboratively to achieve their goal of acquiring a cultural center. This center would not only bring together the Hamazkayin community, but will also serve as the driving force to stimulate growth, strengthen local chapters and cultural groups, and enrich the Armenian spirit in our community.

On this occasion, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian expressed his complete support for this significant initiative in partnership with the Executive Council of the Western Prelacy, pledged $25,000 for the Hamazkayin new center. The Prelate urged all community members to contribute whatever they can towards this crucial initiative to help secure the progress of future Armenian generations and provide support to the extensive network of Hamazkayin. Known for its cultural and educational mission, Hamazkayin has been dedicated to serving our nation and communities through various cultural and educational programs and initiatives.
