The Los Feliz Improvement Association (LFIA) will host a Candidate Forum for the Los Angeles City Council District 4 race on Thursday, January 25 at The Autrey Museum of the American West. The LFIA is prominent non-profit organization that has proudly served the community through advocacy and action for more than 100 years and is one of the oldest and most influential organizations in Los Angeles.
The in-person LFIA CD4 Candidate Forum is the first opportunity for Los Angeles District 4 residents to hear directly from all three candidates who are vying for the Council District 4 seat. The public is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to be a part of the democratic process and make an informed decision.
In contrast, a small group calling itself the “Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association” (SOHA), representing only a tiny fraction of homeowners and residents in Sherman Oaks, which also falls in Council District 4, arbitrarily decided to exclude Levon Baronian from a debate it is hosting on January 17. This despite the fact that Baronian has been an elected member of the City of Los Angeles’ Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council for 7 years, is the only Sherman Oaks Homeowner running in the district, and was the first to qualify as a certified candidate in the election by collecting the large number of required ballot petitions.
Baronian’s campaign reacted to the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association’s action by calling it a brazen attempt to obstruct voters from making a fully informed decision about the election.
The LFIA Candidate Forum to be held on January 25 will be moderated by Frank Stoltze, LAist/KPCC Civics & Democracy Correspondent, and Phil Leirness of the Los Angeles Breakfast Club will serve as its Master of Ceremonies.
The event is free but attendees must must RSVP. Seating is limited. A mix and mingle will take place at 5:30pm and the forum will start at 6:30pm.
