On the evening of Sunday, July 23, a commemorative activity entitled “Holy Crucifixion” dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the feat of the Lisbon five martyrs, was held at the ACF Beshir Mardirossian Youth Center in Burbank, per the initiative of the ARF Western USA Central Committee and with the participation of Armenian Youth Federation WUSA, AYF Glendale “Roupen” Chapter and the ARF Shant Student Association.
Various video presentations were made, including personal testimonies and historical archives. There were also performances of revolutionary songs, with duduk and piano, to which all those present joined in singing. Raffy Saryan also performed relevant recitations.
Daron Der Khachadourian, its chairman, spoke on behalf of the Central Committee of the ARF Western USA.
The key not speaker of the evening was longtime ARF activist and public commentator Vatche Proudian.
