Iranian President Raisi Tells Pashinyan Once Again that Iran Will Not “Tolerate” Any Changes in Iran-Armenia Border

According to the Tehran Times, Nikol Pashinyan initiated a telephone conversation on Thursday with Iran’s President Ebhrahim Raisi. During the conversation, Raisi once again warned Pashinyan that “Iran will not accept any change to the political geography of the region,” reiterating statements made by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei last month.

In a meeting held in Tehran on July 19, Khamenei had told Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Iran would not “tolerate” any change in its geographical borders with Armenia. Raisi emphasized that Iran is ready to use all its influence to establish peace and stability in the Caucasus.

Pashinyan presented a detailed report about the recent clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan to Raisi, and focused on cooperation in areas of infrastructure, such as transport and electricity.
