PanARMENIAN.Net – Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan celebrated Roma’s victory in the Confederation Cup with the Armenian flag.
The player, who captained the Armenian national teams for many years, published photos from the match and captioned them: “For you all.”
However, Mkhitaryan lasted only 15 minutes for Roma before suffering a relapse of his thigh injury, Football Italia reports.
The Armenia international had been out of action with a thigh injury since April 28 and tried everything to be ready for the big match against Feyenoord this evening.
He seemed to make a full recovery and looked good in the warm-up, despite having just one training session with his Giallorossi teammates in over three weeks.
However, just 15 minutes into the Conference League Final in Tirana, Mkhitaryan fell to the ground and sadly shook his head.
It was clear he would not be able to continue and had suffered a relapse of that thigh injury.
Sky Sport Italia report from Roma medics on the touchline in Tirana that it is the exact same spot where he had the first injury, the right flexor, which was a Grade II lesion.
