France will provide emergency aid in the amount of 15 million euros for Armenia and the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) refugees, according to a decision approved by the country’s parliament in late November.
The additional mobilization will support NGOs, the ICRC, the Armenian Red Cross and United Nations agencies providing social, medical, educational and financial care to particularly vulnerable populations, the Foreign Ministry of France said in a statement on Friday, December 8.
The newly announced assistance brings France’s contribution for 2023 to 27.5 million euros.
Emergency medical aid was also provided to the Armenian authorities, while several serious burn victims were treated by French hospitals.
The support is also accompanied by the efforts of civil society and French local authorities in favor of the Armenian populations.
