Yet another tragedy struck Armenia on Friday as a military vehicle carrying Armenian soldiers suffered a fatal accident, resulting in the loss of four lives and leaving 20 others wounded. The incident occurred when the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a ravine around 3:25 pm, as confirmed by Armenia’s Defense Ministry.
Details regarding the location of the accident and the identities of the casualties were not immediately disclosed. However, according to reports from RFE/RL’s Armenian Service, the crash transpired on the Nrnadzor road within the Meghri district of Armenia’s southern Syunik province.
The severity of injuries varied among the wounded, with one individual listed in critical condition while others sustained injuries ranging from severe to moderate and mild, as stated by the ministry.
In response to the incident, Gor Abrahamian, a spokesperson for Armenia’s Investigative Committee, announced the initiation of a criminal investigation into potential violations related to the operation or driving of the military vehicle involved. An investigative team has been assembled, and a thorough examination is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragic crash.
