The Armenian National Committee Glendale Chapter strongly condemns the recent hate incident in Glendale, where malicious individuals distributed flyers promoting the appalling idea of completing the Armenian Genocide. This reprehensible act closely follows a similar incident that took place in Beverly Hills a few weeks ago, showcasing a troubling trend of anti-Armenian sentiment and hate crimes on the rise in our communities.
As an organization dedicated to the well-being and advancement of the Armenian-American community, we are deeply disturbed by these hateful acts, and we call on local authorities to thoroughly investigate these incidents and hold the perpetrators accountable.
The Armenian Genocide, a dark chapter in history, resulted in the senseless death and displacement of 1.5 million Armenians. Promoting the continuation of such atrocities is not only morally repugnant but also constitutes a direct threat to our community’s safety and well-being.
We urge our fellow citizens to stand together in solidarity against hate, discrimination, and violence. Together, we can foster a safe, inclusive, and just society that upholds the values of respect, compassion, and unity. Furthermore, we encourage everyone to educate themselves about the history of the Armenian Genocide and the struggles faced by the Armenian community in order to promote understanding and empathy.
As our community prepares to come together to commemorate the 108th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide this April 24th, this incident reminds us that we must remain vigilant in confronting genocide denial and the incitement of hatred in all its forms.
We will continue to work closely with local and national partners to raise awareness of these issues, combat hate crimes, and promote a society where everyone, regardless of their background, can live without fear and prejudice.
