AYF-WUS Hosts 48th Annual Convention, Presents New Central Executive

BIG PINES, CA/ LOS ANGELES, CA – The 48th Annual Convention of the Armenian Youth Federation Western US Region (AYF-WUS) took place at AYF Camp from August 26th to August 28th, and then concluded at the Armenian Center in the San Fernando Valley on September 24th.

The Convention had the special opportunity to hold welcoming remarks by national hero and AYF-WUS alumni, Hampig Sassounian, and guest Arshak Mesrobian, representing the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau Youth Office. In addition, delegates had the chance to receive updates on the latest developments in Artsakh from Dr. Lernik Hovhannisyan, Artsakh Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.

The Convention — the highest body of the AYF-WUS — hosted 40 delegates representing 12 chapters. Representatives from the ARF Central Committee, Oragark, AYF Eastern Region, AYF Camp Board, and AYF Juniors Central Council also
participated in the Convention.

The delegates of the Convention reviewed and analyzed the work of the 2021-2022 fiscal year Central Executive (CE), the operations of all the chapters in the region, as well as the performance of the 10 central councils and task forces. Furthermore, the Convention presented and deliberated on a multitude of resolutions to guide the newly-elected CE body in its operations for the upcoming 2022-2023 fiscal year, and adopted over 40 resolutions relating to regional and international affairs. Delegates also reaffirmed their dedication to the Homeland and the work and manifesto of the AYF as the youth wing of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.

The 2022-2023 fiscal year CE aims to continue the vital work being done in the Homeland, especially in Armenia and Artsakh’s time of need.

With chapters throughout the United States and affiliated organizations around the world, the AYF actively strives to advance the social, political, educational, and cultural awareness of all Armenian-American youth.
