The Agreement Between Armenia and Azerbaijan is Not About Peace, Says Saghatelyan

Referring to the so-called “Peace Treaty” document being negotiated between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, Chairman of the ARF in Armenia and Member of Armenian Parliament, said that the document was prepared under the threat of Baku, in fact, it is preparing new attacks against Armenia.

“Please do not call that document “peace” because it has nothing to do with peace. It is a draft of some kind of document under the conditions of Azerbaijan, under the threat of Azerbaijan’s power. Armenia does not gain anything from this, there is no positive point for us. Azerbaijan is only consolidating what it has gained as a result of this aggression and, in fact, is preparing new attacks against Armenia. We are familiar with that document, it is a new capitulation document for Armenia,” Saghatelyan said.

According to him, at the time of signing the agreement, the Azerbaijani troops will continue to stay in the Republic of Armenia’s territory, demarcation and demarcation will not take place, this will be done in the future, and the military-political leadership of Artsakh will continue to stay in Baku prison.

“Now is it about peace or not?” Nothing positive will be given to Armenia with that document,” Saghatelyan stressed, insisting that as long as the current authorities are in place, nothing good should be expected.

“They are simply not able and they don’t want to, they are a puppet government of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem and they have long since abandoned the idea of protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia. They have a political line: we give what is possible without getting anything in return,” said the representative of the ARF Armenia, noting that all the claims that if we give Artsakh and Armenia will be saved are wrong, according to the draft of the contract, it is clear: Armenia is not saved by this.

According to him, there is no word in the draft of the agreement about Azerbaijan’s recognition of Armenia’s territory of 29,800 square kilometers.

“It is also clear from Hajiyev’s latest statement that Azerbaijan has returned to the corridor conversation, and here we consider very important the very clear and principled attitude of Iran that they expressed. We believe that under those statements there is also clear work, and Iran, in fact, as a friendly and allied country, is interested in preserving the territorial integrity of Armenia,” Saghatelyan noted.
