Armenia is ready to import gas from Azerbaijan if political issues are resolved, said Hakob Vardanyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration of the Republic of Armenia during a speech at the Silk Road forum in Tbilisi.
“During the Soviet period, there was a similar experience – Armenia received gas from Azerbaijan, and three large gas pipelines from Azerbaijan served this purpose.
And now we can restore them if there are no unresolved political issues between our countries. We can also be a transit country for transporting gas from Azerbaijan to Europe, the same applies to electricity,” Vardanyan said.
Armenia, he said, can also play a role in the transportation and export of electricity from Azerbaijan to Turkey and in the opposite direction, as well as between Iran and Georgia.
Yerevan is ready to restore all communications, Vardanyan added.
