It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Y. Osik (Hovsep) Movsesian, a longtime member of Homenetmen Glendale Ararat.
Y. Osik was born in 1943, Tabriz Iran He grew up and completed his education in Tehran. As an adult, he chose computer programming as his profession. He was employed as a programmer at IBM, becoming a certified mainframe programmer, and began applying his skills at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) as well as at the National Iranian Radio & Television (NIRT) broadcasting company. Later, he worked as an IBM-certified mainframe programming instructor and helped train a generation of new programmers in Iran.

In 1979, just as the Iranian Revolution was taking place, in order to provide a more secure life for his family, Y. Osik moved to the United States, settling in Glendale, CA. Immediately upon moving he joined Homenetmen Western USA Region and became a member of the Ararat Chapter. He also served as a multi-term member of the Homenetmen Western USA Regional Executive Board, where he served as the Board’s Treasurer.
His contribution to Ararat since its inception remains invaluable. He not only had the treasurer position on the Executive Board, but he also built the first-ever computerized membership tracking and database system for the Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter.
