Ishkhan Saghatelyan, the representative of the Supreme Body of the ARF Armenia, who is in Brussels on a working visit, continued political consultations with the deputies of the European Parliament, meeting with Peter Vitanov (Bulgaria), Costas Mavrides (Cyprus), Jordi Sole (Spain) and Nikos Papandreou (Greece).
During the meetings, Ishkhan Saghatelyan and the president of the ARF Hye Tahd European Office, Gaspar Karapetyan, thoroughly presented the humanitarian situation in Artsakh, which has been under siege for seven months, security challenges, the nature and manifestations of Azerbaijan’s ethnic cleansing policy.
Ishkhan Saghatelyan highlighted the need for a targeted and effective response by the executive power of the European Union to Azerbaijani aggression, noting that it is at least necessary to curb such continuous actions.
Thoughts were exchanged on ways to recognize the realization of Artsakh’s right to self-determination as a guarantee of conflict resolution and stable peace in the region.
Saghatelyan also conveyed that any solution to the conflict, which ignores the realization of Artsakh’s right to self-determination, will not be accepted by the Armenian people.
An agreement was reached to continue political consultations and mutual visits.
